REEL

A massive part of client work for me this year was collaborating with podcaster Sabrina Salvati to bring her debut feature film to life. It involved a lot of head down work into research, archival, editing, motion graphics, and also producing post-production tasks, including collaboration with Illustrator Sophia Foster-Dimino who provided excellent assets for animated segments as well as bringing in Jesse Andrew Clark as Colorist who was also essential in bringing it all together and across the finish line. A true team effort that has resulted in a great documentary.

‘REMOVED: Black Erasure in Boston’ dives into the history of structural racism that has been perpetuated against Black Americans in Boston. Many state sanctioned policies that sound banal or beneficial on paper actually enshrine forms of systemic racism, leading to enhanced displacement and class divide.

A combination of redlining, urban renewal, gentrification, and mass incarceration have led to the erasure of Black Americans from Boston, Massachusetts. While discussing the history of these practices, this film also spotlights a current struggle between the city, allied with billionaire investors, and the local community fighting back against the takeover of White Stadium in Franklin Park.
